Upload your website with FTP
You upload your site's files with FTP over TLS, using any FTP program such as FileZilla.
Find your details
Open Web Hosting and choose Details for your site. The Uploading your site panel shows:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| FTP host | shown on the page, for example ftp.srvgb.com |
| Username | shown on the page |
| Password | shown on the page |
| Port | 21 |
| Encryption | FTP over TLS, explicit ("FTPES"). Plain FTP is refused |
| Transfer mode | Passive |
If the page says the host or password is not available, ask us and we will send or reset it.
In FileZilla
- Open File → Site Manager and choose New site.
- Set Protocol to FTP, enter the Host and Port 21.
- Set Encryption to Require explicit FTP over TLS.
- Set Logon type to Normal and enter your username and password.
- Choose Connect. Accept the certificate if FileZilla asks.
Where to put your files
When you sign in you are already in your site's web root. There is no
public_html folder to look for: upload your files straight in. Your home page
is index.html or index.php.
Check it before your domain points here
Once your site is set up, its page may show a Preview address ending in
srvgb.com. Use it to check your upload before your own domain points at us.
Apps that know their own address, such as WordPress, may send you on to your
real domain. Search engines are not shown the preview address.
Deploying from Git instead
Your site's page can also connect a public Git repository and copy it to your site every few minutes. While a repository is connected, PHP is switched off for the site, and files you delete from the repository are not deleted from the site. Read the notes on the page before connecting one.
Good to know
- Each site has one FTP account. To have the password reset, ask us.
- There is no self-service control panel on these plans yet.
