Name, group and tag your services

Every service has an order reference (it starts VPSGB-), which is what our invoices and support use. You can also give it a name of your own, and group and tag it.

Names

You choose a name when you order. It is how the service is listed on your dashboard and your invoices. A name can be up to 60 characters.

You can rename these later, from the Your name for it panel on their page:

  • websites
  • SSL certificates
  • managed services

Servers, game servers, load balancers, object storage and reseller plans keep the name they were ordered with. If you need one changed, raise a ticket.

Groups and tags

Groups and tags help you sort a long list, for example by customer, project or environment.

  1. On the dashboard, open the Services tab.
  2. Choose Edit in the Group column for the service.
  3. Set its group, and add tags as a name and a value.

Tag names use lower-case letters, digits, dots, hyphens and underscores, up to 64 characters; anything in capitals is turned into lower case. A value can be up to 128 characters. Each service can have up to 25 tags. Reseller plans cannot be tagged.

The Services search finds services by group and tag, and the Spending page can break your costs down by group or tag.
